ABOUT ARTHUR ASHE
Arthur Robert Ashe Jr. was born in the segregated town of Richmond, VA in 1943. Before his tennis career and his appearances in civil rights movements, he underwent rigorous tennis training, joined the military, and attended UCLA on a tennis scholarship.
